Sabine Villiard, a distinguished photographer with a unique artistic vision, was born and raised in the vibrant city of London to French migrant parents. Currently based in Paris, Sabine’s journey with photography began in the 70’s, under the guidance of her father, Georges Villiard. Throughout her life, she has explored various facets of this art form, demonstrating an innate curiosity and passion for the craft.
In 1995, Sabine embarked on a serious commitment to her photography, developing a style that masterfully blends surrealism with a keen wit. Her work is driven by a quest to uncover imperfections within perfection, whether her subject is a person, an animal, a landscape, or a flower. This exploration of contrast and depth has become a hallmark of her artistic expression.
Over the past two decades, Sabine has been quietly working on a deeply personal project that has evolved alongside significant events in her life. The passing of her father in 2020 revealed an extraordinary legacy: a photographic heritage spanning five generations, with eight family members having been talented amateur photographers, the first of whom was born in 1823. This discovery sparked a profound dialogue between Sabine’s contemporary work and the historical photographs of her ancestors, creating an artistic conversation that transcends time.
As we approach the Bicentenary of Photography, the world eagerly anticipates the unveiling of Sabine Villiard’s project. Her dedication, vision, and the rich tapestry of her family’s photographic legacy promise to offer a captivating and insightful contribution to the art of photography.
Thank you for your patience and anticipation.
